“Pimp My Theatre” for Giving Tuesday!

At Onward Theatre, we’ve always believed that comedy and community belong together. Our mission has stayed the same from day one: uplift underrepresented voices, foster an inclusive creative home, and keep comedy accessible for everyone in our community.

This year, for Giving Tuesday, we’re doing something.. kinda silly! We made a parody video called “Pimp My Theatre,” because just like an early 2000s Honda Civic, our space could use some upgrades and a little lurve.

And here’s where you come in.

Our Glow Up Wish List

Over the last few years, hundreds of artists and audiences have come through our doors, and our little theatre has been showing the love in… very literal ways. To keep our space safe, welcoming, and functional, we’re raising $2,500 over the next two weeks to help us make a few improvements:

• Signage outside our building

• A real Lost & Found (instead of the current… “pile on the shelf” system)

• A new curtain so our backstage can be an actual backstage

• Fresh chairs to replace some that have lost a limb or several

• And most importantly: fixing our stage, which has taken a heroic amount of damage

  • Including repairing the missing front panel that is currently… cardboard

• And giving the whole stage a beautiful fresh coat of paint

Every dollar truly helps us become functional AND cute.

• Keeping our programming low-cost and accessible

• Supporting producers and creators from marginalized communities

• Providing a home for open mics, jams, classes, and shows that bring folks together

• Maintaining a safe, affirming environment where anyone can step onstage for the first time, or the 400th!

Onward Theatre isn’t just a space. It’s a hub for connection. A home for weirdness. A stage for stories that don’t always get space elsewhere. And a place where people truly feel like they belong.
